Indian shipping sector is expected to witness a strong connectivity between coastal and inland waterways in the State of Kerala. The state will get a 205 km Kollam-Kottapuram National Waterway III by Nov 2013.
This initiative will provide a tremendous boost to efforts being made to shift cargo movement from congested and risky roads to waterways. Further to encourage coastal shipping the State government will start operating a chartered ship between Kollam and Kochi by end of May 2013.
